Heart Failure Prognosis Update: Congestive Heart Failure?

Update: Congestive Heart Failure? - heart failure prognosis

So I'm back from the vet ..
News pretty excited, to be honest.
After a thorough examination and EKG my vet has determined that Pugsley has an enlarged heart, a diagnosis of heart failure. : (
Not that he had an attack - is a protest against the oral medication in advance. Her heart is enlarged until his windpipe, and all I get is the prohibition in the air, making it have the reaction of the victim is not breathing. Once we saw it okay. I have never seen anything like liquid "So when I said, know what to protest against the drug, which had started the breathing create the reaction that appears as an attack, not surprised. Very glad that no seizure.
He received an injection of * oh boy, I remember * were a few different drugs to reduce the size of the heart.
And enalapril twice daily
Furosemide, and 3 times a day.

Now it's just wait and see game.
Please pray that well on the medication.

Legit: Have you experience of heart failure in dogs? What was the prognosis, if the personal experiences, advise .. .. Everything is permitted .. Could star .. It would be great!
Thank you:)

I inherited cardiomyopathy. I take enalapril and Coreg twice a day. I was initially at 22 is normal with an ejection fraction of 25 (55 diagnosed), which means it has heart failure, heart failure, had a very wrong with it. Ejection fraction amounted to almost normal through exercise and medication in a single year. I even ran 2 miles a day and weight lifting every day of the week except Sunday. Heart failure means your heart is not stopped, it just means not as good as it should. Change your life does not end. Make sure that you give your medicine on time every day. I also have a raw diet because it contains no salt diet for dogs, you will retain water. In addition, the amount you drink May at the help, if it is to start too much liquid. I asked my vet about digoxin and Coreg and if the dogs given.

I Met a dog (Up Close & Personal) w / congestive heart failure. She coughed occasionally, but because he too will its owners, their dogs checked the sudden decision of another, who was weak and willing, as a "Top Dawg be included.
Not long, I fear. And this is not a good way to go .... Drowning / suffocating, scary. His owner tried drugs for a while and then release.

I am sorry for your dog.

In September 2006 I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy Dobie (CHF). She was seen by our veterinarian and a cardiologist. He had an EKG, and also wore the Holter monitor for 24 hours. She was put on medication and was doing well until May 2007.
For more than a month, his condition has gradually downhill hold very little power, even when walking, difficulty breathing and much more.
On 6 June as bad as I hated the functionality to let it go the next day.
It broke my heart to lose, but I knew he fought his best and was very tired, so we made our last visit to the veterinarian.

I can only say at least had the additional 9 months after she was diagnosed.

My B * tch Doberman Becca died suddenly of a dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in November. She had a cough so excited when our local vet and thought it might be a tumor / DCM / Valve (16/11/07).

I had an appointment with a cardiologist, but at 3:00 on the clock 17.11.07 I woke with the sound of breath and had little pink foam at the mouth. Rebecca was right out of the emergency vet, where I learned of his heart failed.

In the case of Rebecca is the cardiac disease has progressed sufficiently to cause the point where the accumulation of fluid in the lungs and coughing and shortness of breath (heart failure).

She was holding in my arms, while Becca was shelved for despair, and I was seven and a half with her fantastic, knew he had lived and suffered every day life to the fullest and never.

I hope that your dog may respond well to medication for heart and a good quality of life to enjoy.

I had the experience of a heart-lung, but my dog was going age (13) and a Shih Tzu and ready to go. Perhaps there is a connection between the brachycephalic breeds and what is it? I do not know.

Regardless of the time on this earth and in our hearts and homes to be measured in terms of quality, not quantity. If your life because of this (and probably know) is shortened to be thankful that he has in his life, even briefly. I've learned, no matter how long you with us, it's never enough time
